What are the consequences of not have dental insurance for my family
Right now I do not have dental insurance for my family. I just got a new job when my last job laid me off. The problem is the health insurance is really not bad but I no longer get dental insurance. My wife is upset by this we have one son and one daughter under the age of seven.
I really do not see a big deal about not have dental insurance since all we get are the cleanings my kids do go twice a year but for my wife and I more like once a year. When I shop out dental insurance the for the family they are costing $85 or more a month. You times that by a year and I think we be better off paying cash for the kids cleanings. What are some real consequences that I am not seeing in not getting dental insurance?

Dental insurance is much like any other type of insurance you get it in hopes really many never have to use it but if you do it is there for you.
Maybe now all your family really does is have the basic dental care. And it is possible that if that is all you do each year the cost of some dental insurance plans can be more then the dental work you are having done.
However it only takes one root canal with a crown to pay for most plans two times over. It is the larger dental needs that come up when having dental insurance will save you money and make the plan well worth having.

It sounds like you are looking and PPO dental plans which can be costly when you are paying for a family plan. Why not look into dental HMO plans they are normally half the cost of PPO and have way less plan limitations.
Base on what you stated are your family needs I think you will be much more happy with a dental HMO plan.
