Children teeth care, I think my son may have a cavity
My five year old son may have a cavity but I am not sure. Right now he brushes his teeth on his own and I do a quick once over just to make sure we get everything. However today I notice a brown spot on the side of one of the middle teeth that was not there before.
I tried brushing it off but it did not brush off. Is this a sign of a cavity? He was just at the dentist three months ago. Can he get a cavity this fast? Should I take him to see a dentist or see if it goes away on it own?

Since the spot is on the side of the tooth brushing may not be food enough. Spots do not a pair over night. So if you know it was not there the day before then try flossing the area.
You did not state that you are flossing your son teeth but if not then start doing so now. He may have just something stuck to the side of the tooth that should come off when you floss.

If the flossing does not remove the brown spot on the tooth then I would see a dentist. Maybe it has been there for a while and you are just now noticing it.

I brush my children teeth too but with the toothpaste and not having the best of light I would say it would be easy to miss seeing a small spot on my child tooth. Until it got big enough for me to see it clearly
I would take your child to see a dentist you do not want to run the risk that it is cavity and you did nothing about it.
