Dental Fears in Washington.
I live in Washington and my son is seven and is fearful about going to the dentist. Every time I do take him which is only twice a year he makes such a fuss. He really is scared and I do not know how to make thing easier for him. I want for him to understand that there is nothing to be scared about since I do not want him to grow up afraid of going to the dentist and therefore not getting the dental care he needs. Would love to have some good advise. Thanks

My son Jack was the same way. In fact he would fuss with me just having his teeth brushed. Always turning his head away from me. It was a bit of a hassle each time.
He was really bad with the dentist. I could not take him to our family dentist since he was too fussy. I had to take him to a pediatric dentist which was not covered under our dental insurance.
However it was a night and day difference. A pediatric dental office is much more kid friendly and the dentist are more geared for fussy kids and are better able to handle it. After three years he was able to start going to our family dentist knowing that nothing was going to hurt him.
If you are currently not seeing a pediatric dentist it may be worth looking into.

My three year old daughter was a tough with the dentist too. One thing that did help was that she sat in my lap. This kept her from kicking and moving to much since I was with her the whole time.
If your son has a favorit toy let him bring it with him. My daughter would bring her stuff cow with her and that also seemed to help.
