Kids dental care, buying dental insurance

Monday, Sep. 6th 2010 9:30 AM

My son is two and up until this point I never had dental insurance.  Now that my son is two I would like to get some dental insurance so that he may see a dentist for his twice a year check ups.  Where can I go to get a very low cost dental insurance plan just for him.  I do not have much money so I am only worried about my son oral health care right now.

Kids dental care, How do you get your child to brush better

Saturday, Jul. 31st 2010 8:20 AM

My son is 10 and he does brush his teeth when I tell him to but not long enough and I am sure not good enough.  I know this since so far he has had three cavities.  Luckly they have been on his baby teeth.  How do I get him to get better with his oral health care?

Kids dental care, Wisdom teeth removal

Wednesday, Jul. 28th 2010 8:08 AM

My daughter is 15 and I was told by her dentist that I may want to think about having her wisdom teeth removed.  They are showing up in the x-rays but are not to the point that they are yet to come out.  Her teeth are perfect right now.

The dentist said there is a chance that the wisdom’s teeth will start to push her other teeth out of alignment.   What is the chance they will do this?  The dentist tells me I have time to  make up my mind but at the same time he said it better to do it sooner then later.

Would love to hear other advise.  Do you always have to pull out teeth that have not even broken though the gum line yet

Kids dental care, Crooked baby teeth

Sunday, Jul. 25th 2010 9:29 AM

My son baby teeth are coming in.  He has already seen the dentist about four month ago and everything was fine.  It just more teeth have come out and they do not seem straight to me.  Is this normal?  Or should I take him back to the dentist.   I do not want him to have crooked adult teeth and worried if his baby teeth are crooked will that cause issues to the adult teeth when they start to come in?

Kids dental care, How do I find out the correct ADA code

Thursday, Jul. 22nd 2010 9:20 AM

My son needs to have two fillings.   So I thought at this point since the dentist wants to charge me over 250.00 for just two filing I would shop out getting him some dental insurance.   However I have found out that there is more then just one  price for a filling.

In order for me to know the true cost I am told that I would need to know the ADA code for the fillings my son needs.  Where would I get that from?  Someone most know them since two different dental company told me they could not quote a price without knowing the ADA code for the dental services.  Please advise I do not want to buy anything without knowing what I getting from it.

Kids dental care, Dental help for baby teething

Thursday, Jul. 15th 2010 8:02 AM

My son is five month old and I think he may be already teething.  This is both my husband and I first child, so we are not sure when a baby will normally start teething.  Though I am also sure my son is teething.

Can a five month old be teething so soon?  He has all the signs of teething.  If so should I take him to see a dentist for his teething issues or his doctor?  My husband says he is too young to see a dentist and I tend to agree with him.  But my son is up all night and most of the day upset and cranky.  Teething rings seem to big for him to handle yet.  Advise please.

Kids dental care, Do dental wipes really work for new borns

Sunday, Jul. 11th 2010 7:14 AM

My son is only two months old.  So right now he does not have any teeth.  My doctor told me I still need to wipe my son gums after each feeding so that he does not have extra milk in his mouth.  Then when he gets his teeth in I should take him to see a dentist.

So I have been doing as suggested to me by my doctor.  My friend told me about dental wipes and that is what she uses to clean her daughter teeth.  She said they work just like brushing but are easier to use when you are dealing with an infant.  I though you just brush the teeth when the start to come in.  Are dental wipes just as good?

Kids dental care, dental caries

Tuesday, Jul. 6th 2010 9:05 AM

I have a three year old boy.  Lately I started to notice  brown spots on three of his teeth. At first thought they may have been a bit of food and he was not brushing well. So  I started to bush his teeth but the spots are still there.

I made  a dental appointment for my son so I will be taking him to see the dentist about these spots in a few days. I am worried that my son may have dental caries though as a baby I never let him sleep with a baby bottle.  I also made sure he brushed his teeth each day.  What can these spots be if not cavities?

Kids dental care, my daughter is scared of having her tooth pulled.

Sunday, Jul. 4th 2010 10:21 AM

My daughter has a dental appointment to have one of her baby teeth pulled. The baby tooth she needs pulled is not loose but has to be pulled so that her adult tooth will come in.  My daughter is upset that she is going to have to have this tooth pulled and she does not want to get it done

I told her that since it is a baby tooth it will not hurt her all that much and her dentist will do everything he can so she does not feel any pain during the process.  This seems to be okay for now but I would love some additional advise in case things changes when she has to goes to get her tooth pulled.

Kids Dental care, Yellow baby teeth

Friday, Jul. 2nd 2010 8:54 AM

My son baby teeth are just not coming in but they have a yellowish look to them.  I am worried about the color of his teeth.  He had jaundice so I am wondering if that has anything to do with is current teeth color.

I been brushing his teeth twice a day were before I was doing it only once in hopes that would help remove the yellowish coloring.  It so far has not helped.   I am not sure if this his just his normal teeth coloring or if there is something wrong with his teeth.
